Community Service
The goal of the Christian Service Program is to teach St. Anne students to serve others who are less fortunate than themselves. As students serve others, they learn profound and life-changing lessons. In the Christian tradition, service to others is both our responsibility and our blessing, for it is God who first served us. This manual depicts the goals and objectives for St. Anne’s Christian Service Program. Goals of Service St. Anne’s students shall:
St. Anne School requires every Middle School student complete 24 hours of direct service to the community each year. This service experience will be fulfilled as part of an annual Christian Service Project undertaken in the student’s Religion class and under the direction of the student’s Religion teacher. Projects are intended to complement the Religion Curriculum at every grade level. The service project represents twenty percent (20%) of a student’s Religion grade for the academic year. The timeframe to be served is between July 1 and the last day of school each year. Any time spent toward Christian Service that goes beyond a minimum 24 hours is credited to the student but it cannot cover the service agreement for future service projects in succeeding grade levels. Sixth and Seventh grade students are required to complete a written summary of their Christian Service hours in a report due by the end of the academic year. Eighth grade students are required to make a presentation to class and faculty describing their involvement. Awards and recognition will be given by each Religion teacher for Outstanding Christian Service. |
