ST. ANNE SCHOOL ORCHESTRA
St. Anne School orchestra offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced instruction of all string instruments to include the violin, viola, cello and bass. Classes are offered to students in 3rd through 8th grade. Students learn a range of classical pieces along with a variety of film music, rock and jazz. Performances are held at school and in the local community.
Thank you for helping to spark your child's interest in playing a musical instrument, and taking the time to read through this guide. I realize there are parents who are completely new to instrumental music and I am happy to educate you in the process.

Elementary School Electives (3rd-5th Grade Only)
Beginning Strings Level I– This class is open for grades 3rd & 4th who are just starting. Violin, Viola, Cello are accepted. This class meets during the school day and is offered during your child’s music class. This group performs at the end of the year for our Spring Concert. Students will receive credit.
Beginning Strings Level II- This is deisgned for students who are in their 2nd year of playing. Students will learn more about performance and more notes on their instruments, including more in depth rhythm study, dynamics and tempos. This groups will perform at the end of the school year for our Spring Concert.
Crusaders Orchestra (Audition Only)- This class is open for 4th & 5th graders who have been playing 2 years or more. Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass or Electric Bass are accepted. This class meets during the school day and is offered during your child’s music class. Your child must also participate in one day a week mandatory afterschool rehearsal that meets one day a week 3:00- 4:00pm. Students typically perform 3 times a year (Christmas Program, Festival, Spring Concert). Students will receive credit.
Middle School Electives
MidKnights Orchestra– For 6th-8th graders who have never played an instrument or are need one-on-one experience, this class is offered during the school day. Students will receive more concentrated instruction on an instrument as the class is offered 5 days a week for 40 minutes for a traditional letter grade. Students are given an exit audition in order to place into Blue Knights.
Blue Knights Orchestra (Audition Only) – For 6th-8th graders who have played at least two years on an instrument, this class is offered during the school day. Students will receive more concentrated instruction on their instrument as well as performing with a group. This class is offered 5 days a week for 40 minutes for a traditional grade. This group performs throughout the year on and off campus.
