This course will focus heavily on the events of today, world events and topical issues (appropriate for Catholic school students). The course will provide students with basic background and foundational information to understand the world that we live in today. It will examine various social, political, economic, religious, and cultural events in different countries and regions to better comprehend multiple perspectives on the world today. A major focus will be placed on current events, their origins and causes, to find possible solutions for or predict outcomes to those events. This project-based curriculum incorporates a writing component accessed through technology whereby students will continue to master keyboarding skills, word processing, spreadsheets and the creation of multimedia presentations through Microsoft Office PowerPoint. Students will master image creation and editing through Adobe Photoshop. In addition, students will be exposed to moral and ethical issues of computers and the applications of computers in the future. Students will efficiently surf the Internet by employing differentiated search methods.
