Summer Reading & Math
2025-2026 Summer Reading and Math Assignments
We encourage our students to continue building upon their skills in both math and reading. This fosters the development of independence and intrinsic motivation for learning. Below is an outline by grade level of resources and summer assignments in both math and reading. Please read it carefully and reach out to library@st-anne.org for support any time this summer.
MATH
-
Students who will be in Grades 1-5 in the fall are encouraged to purchase the appropriate-level Summer Solutions (Standards-Based version) workbook for use over the summer. These math workbooks are easy-to-follow, mixed-practice, standards-based books that reinforce learned concepts, boost student confidence, and prepare students to excel in the new school year. They are available directly from the publisher and at Amazon.com. Choose the workbook level that matches the grade level your child just completed (e.g., Students who were in Grade 1 in the 2024-2025 school year should choose the Grade 1 Summer Solutions book.)
-
Students who will be in Grades 6-8 in the fall are expected to complete the math assignments in the list below.
- Current students will still have access to their online Math programs–Jiji (K-2), iXL (Grades 2-8), and ALEKS (Grades 5-8)--for part of the summer break. Students are encouraged to continue using these resources during the summer.
READING
-
Students who will be in Grades K-2 in the fall are expected to read regularly during the summer.
-
Students who will be in Grades 3-8 in the fall are expected to read regularly during the summer and complete reading assignments, which are linked below.
-
All assignments are due the first week of school (August 25-29).

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE 2025
We would also like to invite students to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge. This summer, you can count our reading minutes to earn prizes and recognition.
To log reading minutes, have your child click Summer Reading Challenge 2025 to download and print the reading log, and turn it in on the first day of school!
Read for a total of 1,000 minutes or more this summer to receive a free dress pass in the fall! Students can start tracking their minutes as early as Friday, June 13. All students who participate in the Summer Reading Challenge should submit their completed reading logs to their Homeroom or Advisory teacher by Friday, August 29, 2025.
BOOK FAIR CHALLENGE: Minutes read will be tallied by the Book Fair team, who will award the Top 5 readers from each grade a book valued at $10 during the fall 2025 Book Fair. Winners will be announced and presented with a certificate at the first assembly of the 2025-2026 school year.
Happy summer reading!
