Cub Scout Pack 872 Coin Collection 101 & Spring Recruitment at St. Anne

On Sunday March 24, the Cub Scout Pack 872 held an event, which included annual Pack photographs and a crash-course on coin collecting. The coin collection event gave each young Scout the opportunity to fill in a State Quarter Book and/or National Park Collection Book with quarters of every variety. The coin collection event is just one example of the kinds of fun events Cub Scouts get to participate in. We want to announce to the St. Anne community that we will be holding a recruitment week during April 29 through May 3.
The US Mint launched a program in 1999 to honor each of the nation’s states in the order that they ratified the Constitution or were admitted into the Union and in 2019 began issuing quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites. The Scouts had the unique opportunity to familiarize themselves with a large number of coins from both of these programs. After matching quarters in their possession to the right spots in their books, the Scouts then proceeded to barter and trade with other Scouts in order to get the coins they were missing and offload the coins they had in surplus. What a fun way to learn about history and commerce in a relaxed and (literally) hands-on manner! One of the Scout’s family members also brought a collection of old coins including pennies dating back to WWI and other historically significant or rare coins from Europe.

-       The first coins were produced during the Iron Age more than 2,600 years ago.
-       The Lincoln cent was the first coin to feature a United States president.

Recruitment Week at St. Anne

The coin collection event is just one example of the kinds of fun events Cub Scouts get to participate in. We want to announce to the St. Anne community that we will be holding a recruitment week during April 29 through May 3. We will have a table set up near the St. Anne office staffed by Scout leaders and Scouts and will display key information about our Scouting program. Please feel free to stop by and chat and pick up one of our free give-away items. If you act quickly enough, you may be able to join our first-ever urban campout on the St. Anne campus planned for early May, and featuring quick and easy camping tutorials and tips, a movie, and other fun activities.

If you have any questions or are interested in participating in Cub Scouts (both girls and boys are welcome!), please feel free to reach out to us at the contacts below.
