Students Plan, Design, and Build Useful School Inventions

Grade 2 students read the book “Rosie Revere Engineer” about a girl in second grade who dreamed about becoming a great engineer. After reading the book, the students worked in small groups to plan, design, and build a model of an invention they thought of that would be useful for us in school. They then presented their inventions to the class telling everyone the name of their invention, what it does, and how it will be useful in school.

Students thought of the most creative inventions like the “Washapaper” - washing ink from worksheets, the “Work Robot” - helping students with their homework and checks homework, the “Lunch Box Buddy” - friendly, smiling lunchbox with heating and cooling options for your food, and even the “Teacher Calm Down-anator” - used for teachers to calm down instantly!
