On Wednesday morning, 110 two-, three-, four-, and five-year-olds donned holiday-themed party clothes to sing carols and help reenact the story of Baby Jesus’ birth at the Early Child Development Center’s annual Christmas Pageant. The pageant was written and conducted by Pre-Kindergarten teacher Cherryl Richardson, and narrated by Head of School Steven Cunningham. The program also included the grade 8 nativity cast, a special instrumental performance of “Rest Ye Merry, Rock Ye Very” by Middle School Orchestra students, and a remarkable violin performance by instrumental music teacher Landon Yaple. The children sang to the heavens to a full house of family, friends and the Pre-Kindergarten grade 7 buddies. Students from the two-year-old class made a surprise appearance at the end of the program and wowed the crowd dressed as elves riding in on sleighs.

The Queen of Life Center was brimming with fellow students, parents, faculty, and staff vying for a glimpse of the beautiful Kindergarten through grade 8 Christmas programs. The grade 8 nativity cast, Shining Stars, and the Mid Knights and Blue Knights Orchestras showcased their musical and instrumental talents Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Kindergarten through grade 3 students performed on Tuesday, and grade 4 through Middle School students performed on Wednesday.

During Wednesday’s program, grade 7 students treated the audience to a lively rendition of Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol.” Students told the story of bitter old miser Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation into a gentler, kindlier man after visitations by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet to come.
