Arts
The Arts are an integral part of a St. Anne School education and are intended to provide students with an outlet for independent, creative expression.
Our program offers a deep and broad experience in both the visual and performing arts. Our faculty, many of whom are professional artists themselves, have a true talent for bringing out each student’s creative potential, which they demonstrate through art exhibits, play productions, orchestra concerts, and singing competitions.
Instrumental Music
St. Anne School offers students in grades 3 through 8 the opportunity to participate in beginning, intermediate, and advanced instruction on all string instruments including the violin, viola, cello, and bass as well as on piano.
In Middle School, students are provided an additional opportunity to learn instrumental music through our Rock Band course.
Students learn a range of classical pieces along with a variety of film music, rock, and jazz. Performances are held at school and within the local community.
Show Choir
Show Choir is a unique form of musical performance that combines intricate vocal harmonies typical of most choirs with dancing and choreographed movements.
The St. Anne School HarmonKnights Show Choir is composed of talented male and female Middle School students whose dedication to rehearsal, competition, and excellence is evident by their hard work and award-winning performances. Students audition to be a part of this ensemble and are judged on vocal and dance ability.
Competition is an integral component of the St. Anne HarmonKnights Show Choir. We are blessed to have such an incredibly talented group of students who over the years have had numerous competitive victories.
Theater Arts
St. Anne Theater Arts program offers myriad opportunities for students to engage their creativity and gain valuable training and experience. Our theater arts program is designed to give students an introduction to theater experience, build confidence, foster their interests, and develop their talents in the performing arts.
The St. Anne Theater Arts Program is an after-school program that produces two plays each year, one at the elementary level for Kindergarten through grade 5 students, and one for Middle School students.
Shining Stars Choir
The Shining Stars Choir is an after-school program for students in grades 3 through 5. The group meets weekly and gives students a wonderful introduction to vocal training and performance.
Visual Arts
The Visual Arts Department offers a comprehensive program for Grades K through 8 designed for students to explore the core fundamentals of art and integrate concepts such as form, texture, value, line, composition, and color. Students are also introduced to mixing mediums, spatial perspective, overlapping, and scale.
Grades 3-5
Grades 3 through 5 students learn about the elements of art and principles of design through the diverse artwork from past to present that they are exposed to. Students explore and develop basic skills and techniques in a variety of art mediums.
Studio Art 6
Studio Art 6 is a semester-long elective for grade 6 students. Students focus on the fundamentals of art with projects that allow them to explore and further develop their skills in drawing, painting and cyanotype photography as well as connect their works of art to personal experiences and a number of historical and contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Studio Art 7
Studio Art 7 is a semester-long elective for Grade 7 students. Students focus on the fundamentals of art with projects that allow them to explore and further develop their skills in drawing, painting, photography and sculpture as well as connect their works of art to personal experiences and a number of historical and contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds and cultures. In this elective, students will also practice reflecting on their own artistic process and responding to others' artwork.
Studio Art 8
Studio Art 8 is a semester-long elective for Grade 8 students. Students focus on the fundamentals of art with projects that allow them to explore and further develop their skills in ceramics, digital media, drawing, painting, photography and printmaking as well as connect their works of art to personal experiences and a number of historical and contemporary artists from diverse backgrounds and cultures. In this elective, students will also practice reflecting on their own artistic process and responding to others' artwork.
